Sally is a licensed physiotherapist and a registered osteopath with over 30 years of clinical experience. Sally uses manual osteopathic techniques to restore mobility and function in her patients. She continues to use her physiotherapy knowledge to teach appropriate exercises and self-management. Sally has a special interest in treating persons with TMD (Temporal Mandibular Dysfunction), pelvic pain following surgery and low back pain. Her osteopathic research thesis was The Effect of Global Osteopathic Treatment on Chronic Low Back Pain. She has a lifelong commitment to learning and improving her knowledge and skills. She enjoys horseback riding, organic gardening and walking Brittney spaniel Maggie, (or is that Maggie walking Sally).

Osteopathic Manual Practice (In Study)

Ken has finished the five year Canadian College of Osteopathy program and is currently working on his thesis; “The Osteopathic relationship between postural abnormalities and the central chain”. Ken is also completing his Masters of Health Promotion from Dalhousie University.  He graduated from Dalhousie University in 1998 with a science degree in Physiotherapy and integrates an osteopathic and physiotherapy approach with his treatments. Ken has also used acupuncture for over ten years and incorporates acupuncture when indicated; he was trained at the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. Ken will treat all types of dysfunction from a recent injury to chronic pain. He enjoys spending time with his family and learning about individual and public health.

Martha Purdy, PT

Martha Purdy earned her Physiotherapy degree at Dalhousie University in 2002. She has since completed post graduate training in manual therapy, movement and stability dysfunction, acupuncture and pilates. Martha has an extensive sports background, and has competed both nationally and internationally, as a member of the Canadian National Trampoline and Tumbling Team. Martha has travelled worldwide as a physiotherapist and performance medicine supervisor for Cirque du Soleil. Her experience working with all levels of clients has taught her that to achieve optimal performance, you must look beyond the symptoms and treat the whole person. Martha’s treatment tools consist of manual therapy, acupuncture, modalities, exercise and PhysioPilates. Her healing philosophy centers on promoting health and wellness through education and exercise.

What is PhysioPilates?
PhysioPilates combines traditional Physiotherapy exercise with the Pilates method, to create an individualized exercise experience. The focus of PhysioPilates is on injury prevention and rehabilitation, core stability, muscle balance, strength, flexibility, breathing movement. Your first session with Martha will consist of a Functional Stability Evaluation, to determine injury prevention and/or rehab exercise goals. Subsequent sessions will provide private exercise instruction, creating a dynamic program that is modified and progressed to fit your needs and goals.

Tia earned her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University's School of Physiotherapy. She has continued her professional study with the orthopedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and completed a Diploma of Advanced Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy. She believes in the importance of patient education. Her treatment focuses on restoring optimal function though the use of exercises and muscular rehabilitation at times augmented by the use of manual techniques or modalities. Her area of interest is in athletic injuries.

Kelly Whitman, PT

Kelly graduated from Dalhousie University's School of Physiotherapy in 2002 and has been teaching Pilates since 2005. She has a special interest in Pilates based rehabilitation and uses this method to address movement dysfunction and muscle imbalances. She has taken several post graduate courses in this area and has worked with a wide range of individuals from the elite athlete to those recovering from surgery or injury. She is certified in Stott Pilates matwork and has additional training in Pilates for specific populations including pre/post natal women, those with low back pain and the client aged 50+. Kelly believes everyone can enjoy the many benefits of an individualized Pilates program whether it is to improve posture, prevent injury or as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Donna Garrison MT

Donna graduated top of her class from the 2200 hour Massage Therapy Diploma program at the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy in June 2004. She is a current member of the Massage Therapists’ Association of Nova Scotia, and holds a Level 2 Usui Reiki certificate.

Donna believes in our body’s innate ability to heal itself, although sometimes we need an extra helping hand. Julie is a UK trained, registered & qualified Osteopathic therapist, with further qualifications in Naturopathic medicine.

Julie completed 4 years of full time Osteopathic training at the British College of Osteopathy. She has also completed a degree in Biology and Psychology at Northampton University (U.K). Julie also has post graduate training in cranial therapy and dry needling.  

Julie believes that when treating the individual you must endeavour to look beyond the structural and take time to listen to the patient and their pain. Throughout her treatment she places great importance on many naturopathic and holistic modalities including hydrotherapy, visceral osteopathy, nutrition/dietetics, lifestyle management and exercise prescription. As a result of her previous degree and research she also has a personal interest in the psychological aspects such as stress, which can initiate and maintain pain.
