Julie Sainsbury B.Ost (UK)

Osteopathic Manual Practitioner

Professional Membership in good standing:

  • Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths

  • Ontario Association of Osteopathic Manual Practitioners

  • General Osteopathic Council (UK) (GOsC)

Julie has been practising Osteopathy for over 10 years. A graduate from the British College of Osteopathic and Naturopathic Medicine (BCOM), London in 2008, she studied Human Biology and Psychology before completing her Osteopathic training.

After graduating, Julie worked as the principal Osteopath in a busy clinic in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, UK. She enjoyed a successful working relationship with local referring general practitioners. Julie first moved to Canada in 2009 to work in Calgary, where she also lectured in Applied Anatomy.

Julie has further qualifications in Naturopathic Therapies, and has completed post-graduate training in cranial-sacral, visceral and structural osteopathy, as well as Pilates. Julie places importance on the influence of Pilates on dysfunctions such as back pain, and is continuing to train with Stott Pilates in Toronto.

Julie believes that when treating the individual you must endeavour to look beyond the structural and take time to listen to the patient and their pain. Throughout her treatment she places great importance on many naturopathic and holistic modalities including hydrotherapy, visceral osteopathy, nutrition/dietetics, lifestyle management and exercise prescription. As a result of her previous degree and research she also has a personal interest in the psychological aspects such as stress, which can initiate and maintain pain.

Julie has worked closely with and on the Osteopathic Association of Osteopathy in Nova Scotia (NSAO) for 6 years, and she always welcomes your questions about Osteopathy.

Julie enjoys practicing all the various aspects of Osteopathy and is excited to be part of your healing team.
